Is Guy Fieri to Blame for Kevin Durant Heading to Golden State?

From Oklahoma to Flavortown

The biggest sports news of the summer has been Kevin Durant leaving the Oklahoma Thunder to join Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Oklahomans are understandably upset about this development, even taking to the Yelp page of Durant's now-shuttered Oklahoma City restaurant to vent their frustrations. But perhaps their anger would be better directed toward another target: Guy Fieri.

Fieri is, of course, a jack of many trades: Food Network host, Donkey Sauce inventor, cruise ship restaurateur, winemaker — and now, apparently, NBA scout. In an interview with First We Feast, Fieri — who is a huge Warriors fan — says he encouraged Durant's agent to bring the former Oklahoman to the Bay Area: "I remember telling his agent during the Playoffs, 'I know he's coming up, you've gotta get him to Golden State,'" Fieri said. "And he was laughing — yeah, yeah, yeah — and he blew me off."

Fieri says he even has the text messages to prove it. Sounds like Golden State fans should be thanking the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host for bringing Durant to Flavortown.
