Nadiya Hussain is heading back to the tent
It’s been a good year for The Great British Baking Show’s season three winner Nadiya Hussain. Since wrapping GBBS last year (note: the season finale just aired stateside this week), the pastry champ has released her first cookbook titled Nadiya’s Kitchen, made Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday cake, and is slated to head up her own TV show, The Chronicles of Nadiya, that will focus on her culinary roots in Bangladesh. Now The Telegraph reports that Hussain has been tapped as a judge for the GBBS’s spin-off series Junior Bake Off.
The show, which airs on the BBC’s children’s channel CBBC, features 40 budding young bakers ages nine to 12 as they whip up pastries, cakes, and other baked goods. Hussain will join chef and food writer Allegra McEvedy as a judge in the tent. “This time last year I was in the Bake Off tent and now I get to go back and help encourage the next generation to get their bake on,” Hussain tells the BBC.
Hussain isn’t the only former Baking Show competitor to score a TV deal. According to the Huffington Post, fellow season three finalist Tamal Ray will put his medical skills to use in a Channel 4 show called Be Your Own Doctor. For those who haven’t seen The Great British Baking Show (of Great British Bake Off as it’s known across the pond), the most polite cooking competition of all time airs on PBS and the first season is currently available on Netflix.
