My family owns a small Chinese food place, with karaoke at night. Originally, it was in a separate building in the same lot as a strip mall. We have since relocated into the strip mall and rebranded as a "sports bar with Chinese food and karaoke". Recently some noise complaints were made at a neighborhood community meeting. This went up the chain and the city is in talks about revoking our license for being in business during the evening hours. Seems odd to me, because in all the time we were at the standalone building, there hadn't been any complaints.
Our landlord suggested we do a noise study around the place. Should we hire an acoustical engineer? How much would this cost? Is it worth the fight? My parents are of retirement age and have only kept the business running to pass on to my brother in a few years.
