KD's is being reconcepted as Durant heads to the Bay Area
NBA star Kevin Durant is bidding adieu to Oklahoma, and soon he'll be just a memory for scorned Thunder fans: His namesake Oklahoma City restaurant, KD's, is no more.
The restaurant shuttered over the weekend, according to the Oklahoman; the move comes just three weeks after Durant announced he would join the Golden State Warriors after nine seasons with the Thunder.
Durant's decision to exercise his free agent status was met with no shortage of backlash from Thunder fans, many of whom took to KD's Yelp page to express their anger. One reviewer wrote, "When I first ate his food it tasted amazing, food made with respect, honesty, and trust. Now it just tastes like the food of a traitor."
Durant originally had a 25 percent ownership stake in KD's, which opened back in 2013. The restaurant says it plans to reopen with a new name and a fresh concept after Labor Day, which seems like a wise business move.
